I started writing this blog not really knowing what the premise was going to be. Actually I delayed writing this week’s post because I didn’t have a clear direction on it. I knew I wanted to write on faith. I’ve wanted to write on faith for awhile it didn’t feel quite equipped. Well if you know at all how God operates, he operates on our trust. Faith requires trust and we must trust him fully. There will be times in your faith walk where you will not know what the very next step will look like until your foot is about to land. And you won’t know the direction of that step but you must put your foot out there and trust that God will guide it.
This is one such instance. I started writing not knowing, but because I finally put my hand (not a foot this time but works the same) to the keyboard, I found out! We’ve talked about the three areas of faith that are required: believing, speaking, acting. Today I want to share a little more. Just as it was with me on writing on the topic of faith, there will be times when we feel ill equipped for the task at hand. A thing you know you need to do, but you don’t know how to make it happen. You may know of something that you see the end result of, but you don’t even have the skill set to see it through. But God.
My favorite scripture reminds me how much those missing pieces aren’t so missing, and that they don’t affect God’s ability to work through you.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
John 14:26
We have the spirit of the living God on the inside of us guiding, teaching, revealing, and reminding us of every word the Lord breaths. So if you know something the God has planned for you, then you are more than capable right now! “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6
The beginning of the Holy Spirit’s work in you is the idea of that thing. The business you dream of, the family you envision, the ministry that burns within, or even the hobby you want to try out are all the work of the Lord beginning in you. It is going to take you trusting him with your life to complete it. Do you believe he can? Is your faith enough to believe that “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,”
Ephesians 3:20
You showing that you do indeed trust is taking that unsure step. For when you have sought the face of Jesus and you have listened to his voice, the step you know to take is not into foreign territory. Stepping in faith is just stepping deeper into the presence of the Almighty. When you know him, your walk is not unknown! Let your faith shield (Eph. 6:16) grow to deflect ever dart the enemy throws so the only fire burning you is the refiners!
Great word sweetheart. It’s a great reminder to trust in our God and His ability to do more than we imagine.
